The YouTube Black Initiative and My Upcoming Trip to Kenya

A while ago, I mentioned that I had been chosen to participate in the YouTube Black initiative. This is a program aimed at highlighting and supporting black creators in the UK and other countries.

Being chosen as one of the black channels to watch out for on YouTube in the UK has been an incredible honour. Over the past six months, I’ve been immersed in a series of classes, had the opportunity to learn from YouTube's renowned creators, and received invaluable feedback from YouTube itself. This experience has been enlightening and has played a significant role in my growth as a content creator.

Now, the time has come for the final celebration, and I can barely contain my excitement! I get to partake in a week-long celebration in Nairobi, Kenya. I'm excited to meet the fellow creators on this programme. This journey holds immense personal significance, I get to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the motherland.

My roots trace back to Cape Verde, a hidden gem of tropical islands off the coast of West Africa. Despite being born in Lisbon, my family's cultural heritage has always been a huge part of my identity. Whenever I visit Cape Verde, the warmth, kindness, and simplicity of life there leave me recharged and grateful to have deep roots in such a magical place. Reconnecting with my African roots has always been important for me to understand and appreciate my cultural heritage and the impact that has had on the person I am today.

I’m privileged to be able to explore more of the motherland. Kenya represents the epitome of Africa's diversity, wildlife, and culture. Finally, I have the chance to experience it firsthand! From going on safari adventures to immersing myself in the local culture.

As I embark on this extraordinary journey, I can't help but feel immense gratitude for the opportunities that have come my way. The YouTube Black initiative has been a game-changer, and the final celebration in Nairobi marks a significant milestone in my career and personal growth. I'm excited to share my adventures. So, stay tuned for next week's episode, where I'll take you on a journey to the magical land of Kenya. Until then, take care and stay safe!
